BoardExamTracker

Volunteer redesign of a Philippine board exam results tracker

BoardExamTracker homepage

About this project

BoardExamTracker is an independent tracker for Philippine professional licensure (board) exam results, built and run by John Lloyd Laxamana. It isn't affiliated with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC); every result links back to the official PRC announcement. The platform (built by John Lloyd): a Node.js and Express app hosted on Vercel. A Cloudflare Worker checks the official PRC Exam Results listing every five minutes. It scans the newest pages plus a rotating pair of older ones and retries with backoff when PRC is slow. New announcements are validated, deduplicated by URL and stored in Upstash Redis with a date index, so they appear through the site's results API without a rebuild. The server pulls key facts from each notice (pass counts, release turnaround, testing centers), writes a short summary, sorts every result into the 46 PRC professions, and renders a page for each result with Open Graph tags and a generated 1200×630 share image. Email alerts run on Resend with a confirmation step before anyone is subscribed, and go out when the checker finds a new result. A private admin dashboard manages subscribers, blog posts, the single AdSense placement, a live viewer count and an on-demand "Check PRC now". My part (volunteer redesign, October 2026): I asked John Lloyd if I could redesign the public site, and he said yes. I delivered it as one pull request on his GitHub repository. It includes a new search-first homepage, a Latest Results page with profession, year and recency filters and shareable links, a directory of all 46 PRC professions, and a cleaner result page with a clear link to the official PRC announcement and its files. A shared header gives every page an always-visible Email alerts button, and phones get a bottom tab bar. The design has light and dark themes and is tested on phones and tablets in both orientations, up to 2560px screens. I kept his backend as it was: the same API, data and email flow. I only added two page routes, and I tested the email sign-up end to end before handing it over.
